REP. RARICK WORKING WITH COMMUNITIES TO ASSESS STORM DAMAGE

Thursday, July 14, 2016

ST. PAUL – Following a devastating rainfall that washed out roads and threatened a local dam, communities in Kanabec and Pine Counties have begun to assess their damage. State Representative Jason Rarick (R-Pine City) said he is working with area leaders as they inspect the destruction.

"My office has been in contact with local officials in Mora, Hinckley, and Willow River as well as the Pine County and Kanabec County Sheriff’s offices,” Rarick said. “There’s no doubt it has been a rough few days following this storm, but I am continuing to monitor the situation and remain ready to help.”

News reports state the most northern areas of Kanabec and Pine counties received up to or more than 10 inches of rain. This resulted in dozens of local and township roads being washed out. Rising waters near the Willow River Dam had neighboring residents nervous, but the dam remains structurally intact and new water levels have begun to recede.

Rarick also reminds residents that if you have experienced damage to your home, business, or vehicle as a result of this storm, don’t delay in contacting your insurance agent. Taking photos or video of your damage will assist greatly in the claims process moving forward, and also make sure to put everything – including contracts – in writing.

Rep. Rarick urges impacted residents and to contact him with any flood-related questions or concerns. He can be reached at 651-296-0518, or by email at rep.jason.rarick@house.mn.

“I’m proud of the way our communities have responded following this storm, and am happy to assist residents in any way I can going forward,” Rarick concluded.
