Legislative Update (6-24-2016)

Friday, June 24, 2016
Dear Friends,

Legislative leaders met again with Governor Dayton this week to continue talks about a potential special session to re-pass our tax relief bill, as well as a compromise bonding bill that includes funding for key projects like planning dollars for Highway 10 and the Anoka Metro Regional Treatment Facility in our community.

Despite significant compromise by legislators of both parties at the end of the legislative session, Governor Dayton will not call a special session unless hundreds of millions in extra projects are agreed to (I do not support all of the Governor's requests, and as of now special session seems unlikely).

Latest news from MNsure

Yesterday, one of Minnesota's largest health insurance providers, Blue Cross Blue Shield, announced their intention to withdraw from the individual insurance market including MNsure.

House Republicans supported and passed multiple bills last session to increase accountability at MNsure and provide relief to families who have been impacted by higher health care costs. Unfortunately, our colleagues on the other side of the aisle opposed these efforts and they were ultimately not signed into law.

Highway 47 Informational Meeting

This week I attended an informational meeting hosted by MnDOT to discuss the feasibility study for safety upgrades for the Highway 47 rail crossing. If you weren't able to attend and would like more information, please click here.
