Dear Friends and Neighbors,
Record-setting heat today makes for a wonderful weekend! Tomorrow, the Maple Grove Friends of the Angel will be hosting its annual Walk to Remember around Rice Lake. The gathering starts at 10:00 a.m. at the Maple Grove Arboretum. Come out and enjoy this great event in our community.
Here are the highlights from week nine at our Capitol:
Debt Settlement Bill Passes off the House Floor
This week my consumer-friendly bill that I chief-authored was voted unanimously off the House floor 130-0! This bill creates some additional consumer protections to the debt settlement laws in our state, and includes past state and federal tax debt. This bill passed the Senate earlier this week, and I look forward to the governor signing the bill!
Real ID Bill – Passes out of Transportation Committee
I was pleased that my Real ID bill that will allow Minnesotans to continue to fly commercially and gain entrance to federal buildings and military bases was passed out of the Transportation Committee with bipartisan support. Next week, this bill will be in the Ways and Means Committee and I look forward to it being on the House floor soon.
St. Paul Visits
Thanks to everyone who has stopped by my office to chat this year! Although session is adjourning soon, I still welcome any visitors from our area. Please call my office to schedule a time we can meet at the Capitol.
