News from Rep. Roz Peterson 04-22-2016

At this point in session, finance committees are having their final hearings and omnibus bills are being finalized. With about five weeks left, we will be spending most of our time debating bills in House floor session.

 

On Thursday, HF2514 came to a vote on the House floor. This measure clarifies the definitions and parameters of the Host Community Economic Development grant program. “Host communities” are areas in the metro that have sites for disposing unprocessed, mixed solid waste, and these grants are aimed at encouraging economic growth and job creation in these communities.

 

Defining and clarifying the criteria for this program will make it more straightforward for host communities to assemble their applications, and streamline the process for approval. I’m happy to say this bill passed with bipartisan support, and will head to the Senate for a vote.

 

Burnsville is looking for election judges for the August 9^th primary. These positions are non-partisan, and are vital to the integrity of our election system. It’s a great way to serve our community!

Pastor Ryan Alexander of Hosanna Lutheran Church in Lakeville was the guest chaplain for the April 20^th House floor session. Pastor Ryan gave a beautiful opening prayer, and it was truly a privilege to have him at the House.
