News from Rep. Roz Peterson 4-1-2016

Hello Friends!

Session is moving right along. Here are some interesting developments from this week, and an opportunity to give us your perspective with the MNSure program.

We Want Your Feedback on MNSure!

Yesterday the MN House State Government Finance Committee launched a webpage where people can leave input regarding their experience with the MNSure program.

For months there has been a steady stream of calls and emails coming into my office from people who are having issues with MNSure. The problems range from the exchange enrolling people in the wrong program, to confusion with tax information, to frustration that premiums and deductibles have drastically increased.

If you would like to tell us about your experience in dealing with the MNSure exchange, you can follow this link to leave your feedback: http://www.house.leg.state.mn.us/cmte/comment. I hope you’ll take a couple of minutes to share your story; your input will help us find solutions to this major problem.

Education Innovation Bill

This week the House Education Policy Committee announced their omnibus bill for this year, which included a bill I introduced that would expand on the school “Innovation Zones” proposal from 2012.  The school districts that are currently utilizing this program, like Lakeville Area schools, ran into barriers. Instead of simply allowing the pilot programs to have more flexibility, this bill expands the authority to all districts.

This bill enables school districts to develop more partnerships with organizations to enhance our student's learning experience, and help them be better prepared for careers when they graduate.

I look forward to seeing this measure move forward, and will keep you updated on its progress at the legislature.

Civil Air Patrol

This week the Minnesota Wing Civil Air Patrol stopped by to present me with my membership in the MN Wing Legislative Squadron. The Civil Air Patrol’s history goes back to just before WWII, when the group formed to use their flying skills and planes for the national good. After Pearl Harbor, many of these volunteer airmen enlisted and served our nation during the war. Currently the Civil Air Patrol provides emergency services, cadet training, and aerospace education throughout the U.S., and in Minnesota.

I’d like to thank these gentleman for the honor of meeting them, and for taking the time to present me with my membership.

If you have any questions or comments, please contact me office at 651-296-5387, or by email at Rep.Roz.Peterson@house.mn . I Look forward to hearing from you!

Sincerely,

Roz
