Legislative Update- March 19, 2018

Monday, March 19, 2018

Dear Neighbors,

I would like to share some exciting and timely news with you.  Tomorrow, the Met Council, Metro Transit, Hennepin County, City of Minneapolis and the City of Brooklyn Center will break ground on the C Line Bus Rapid Transit project. This transit line will greatly improve mobility options to connect community members with jobs, family and errand running throughout our region by substantially replacing Route 19, running primarily on Penn Ave and Olson Memorial Highway. Currently, there are more than 7,000 rides on the ‘19’ each weekday--ridership is anticipated to grow to 9,000 rides daily by 2030. The C Line is scheduled to open in 2019.

The groundbreaking ceremony is to be held tomorrow, open to the public and will take place at the Northeast corner lot at the intersection of Penn and Lowry Avenues North in Minneapolis at 10:45 a.m.

You can learn more about the project and upcoming construction plans here.

March for Our Lives

On this Saturday morning, Minnesota students and allies are marching in Saint Paul from Harriet Island to the State Capitol to demand action on gun violence prevention from legislative leaders. This coordinated effort stems from a student rally organized in Washington DC, and has spread to communities across the country. You can learn more details of the event here.

The momentum is building; I hope you and your family and friends can join to make your voices heard.

If you have any questions or input, feel free to reply to this email or contact me at 651-296-8659.

Sincerely,

Raymond Dehn

State Representative
