Legislative Update - February 22, 2018

Thursday, February 22, 2018

Dear Neighbors,

The legislative session started this week with a long to do list and just a couple of months to complete it. One of the projects I will be working on is the Lakes-Links Trail to connect White Bear Avenue in the city of White Bear Lake to Century Avenue in White Bear Township. This 1.5 mile trail will help walkers, runners, and bikers navigate the area more safely.

Focus (Again) on Gun Violence

My heartaches for growing number of families who have been shattered by gun violence. These mass shootings seem to happen more often and every time a little closer to home.  Americans are killed by guns at rates higher than almost any other country not at war. We need to do something. I am supporting common-sense bills for criminal background checks and gun violence protective orders – I am hopeful we will see some progress, but it will only happen if people within our communities continue to speak up. I will continue to push to make our families and communities safer.
