ADVISORY: Thursday: Rep. Pinto Joins Minnesotans to Respond to House Public Safety Committee Actions on Gun Violence Prevention Bills

Wednesday, February 28, 2018

ST. PAUL, MN – State Representative Dave Pinto (DFL – St. Paul) will respond to Republican committee actions taken on two bills he has authored to prevent gun violence on Thursday, March 1, 2018 from 12:00-12:30 pm in Room B971 of the Capitol after the 10:15 am meeting of the House Public Safety Committee has adjourned.

The two measures before the Public Safety Committee authored by Rep. Pinto include HF 1669, which would require criminal background checks for all gun sales, and HF 1605, which would allow law enforcement and family members to seek a court order to temporarily keep guns away from those who have shown themselves to be very dangerous. Law enforcement leaders, including Rep. Pinto, a Ramsey County prosecutor, feel that such a gun violence protective order (GVPO) could have prevented the recent shooting in Parkland, Florida.
