Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Thursday, March 17, 2016

Dear Shakopee Neighbors,

Happy St. Patrick’s Day! As an Irishman, I can’t help but feel festive every March 17. I hope you have some fun plans this evening with your family and friends. Be safe!

Session Reconvenes

Just over a week ago, the 2016 legislative session started in St. Paul. We’re on a tight schedule this year, but I’m hoping we can accomplish lots for Minnesota and our area. I’d encourage you to reach out and try to schedule a time that we can meet at my office. I’d love your input and truly value your opinion.

Mary T Inc. Visit

I recently visited Mary T Inc. Housing in our area. I was fortunate to meet a high-energy group of people who happen to be my neighbors in Shakopee. I look forward to seeing my new friends in St. Paul in the coming days. If you’d like to learn more about this organization, please visit their website here.

Property Tax Rebate

You may have seen my notice in the newspaper last month, but I wanted to remind you about a property tax rebate for those who’ve seen their property taxes significantly increase. To qualify, the property tax bill has to have gone up by at least 12 percent and more than $100. The increase cannot be due to improvements to the home. There are no income restrictions to receive the refund and the maximum refund amount is $1,000. Some of you have already contacted my office and have found out you’re eligible for a sizeable rebate.

Homeowners can file online at https://www.mndor.state.mn.us/tp/propertytaxrefund/_/ or they can get the form to file at http://www.revenue.state.mn.us/Forms_and_Instructions/m1pr_inst_15.pdf.

Please Contact Me

As always, my door is open and phone is on for you to contact me. We’re in session until May, so I hope you’ll get in touch to share your opinion on any issue related to state government. Stay in touch.

Have a great (and, more importantly, safe) St. Patrick’s Day!

Bob
