Reps. Dehn and Clark end hunger strike as Governor Dayton meets with Immigrants’ Rights Coalition

Tuesday, May 30, 2017

SAINT PAUL, MN – Today, Governor Dayton showed great leadership by meeting with the Immigrants' Rights Coalition. Representatives Raymond Dehn and Karen Clark, who have been on hunger strike for seven days, strongly urged the governor to meet with the coalition in a letter to his office last week and will resume eating today.

Reps. Raymond Dehn (DFL-Minneapolis) and Rep. Karen Clark (DFL-Minneapolis) released the following statement:

"We want to thank the Governor for taking this seriously and prioritizing those targeted by the harmful pieces of legislation on his desk. We would never have thought that we could go for seven days without food. We learned the body is amazing and resilient, even when we did nothing for it, it kept working for us—this is how government should be.”
