Legislative Update - May 22, 2017

Monday, May 22, 2017

Greetings from the Floor,

The Legislature worked through the final weekend of session to resolve budget differences with Gov. Dayton before themidnight deadline for adjournment tonight. There has been good progress on several budget areas, although I haven't heard much news at this point about a final Bonding or Tax Bill. I will update folks with the final outcomes once all the dust settles. In the meantime, I wanted to let folks know about a couple of announcements.

Minnesota CREP (Conservation Reserve Enhancement Program) sign up began on May 15. Clay County is one of the 54 counties eligible for participation. CREP dollars can be used for buffers, wetland restoration or wellhead protection. For more information, please contact the Clay County Soil and Water Conservation District (http://claycountymn.gov/272/Soil-Water-Conservation-District) or the state Board of Water and Soil Resources (http://www.bwsr.state.mn.us/crep/).

The Minnesota Olmstead Plan and Department of Administration's Council on Disabilities has announced an advocacy skills and leadership training for people with disabilities and families of young children with developmental disabilities. The training is designed to educate people on policy making and self-advocacy. The first training isSeptember 15 and 16. The application deadline is July 1. For more information, please go to: http://mn.gov/mnddc/pipm/.

Thank You for the Opportunity to Serve,

Ben
