MCCL rally; what to do about MNsure?

Friday, January 22, 2016

Dear Neighbor,

Minnesota Citizens Concerned for Life's annual March for Life rally took place at the Capitol today and I was proud to attend and support this cause. This is an important subject for people in our district and it was good to see the overall turnout was strong once again. Thousands of people were on hand, including a number from District 9A.

Here are a couple of pro-life accomplishments that House Republicans led to passage into law last year:

Born-Alive Infant Act: The Born Alive Protection Act stipulates that if an infant is born alive, medical professionals must take all reasonable approaches to ensure that the infant receives proper care. If reasonable services or care to the infant born alive are not provided, civil and disciplinary actions apply. The goal is to ensure that infants that are born alive as a result of an abortion are to be considered a human and have full rights.

Safe Place for Newborns: This provision helps mothers who have hidden their pregnancy or are at risk of harming their newborn child. This is an existing program that we increased funding for.

House Republicans also passed two other provisions that did not survive through conference committees and remain on the radar for the 2016 session. One limits taxpayer-funded abortions and the other requires that facilities performing 10 or more abortions a month be licensed as outpatient surgical centers.

Lastly, House Republicans have called on Gov. Mark Dayton to investigate Planned Parenthood in Minnesota amid reports the larger organization has engaged in the disgusting practice of selling of post-aborted fetal tissue.

Sincerely,

Mark
