Dear Friends and Neighbors,
Recently, I was named to a newly formed Select Committee on Affordable Child Care which will partner with providers and parents to facilitate solutions for more affordable child care choices for Minnesota families. I look forward to working on this committee which will focus on addressing child care shortages in certain parts of the state, as well as the high cost of child care that many working parents face.
Our state is fortunate to have many fantastic child care providers who offer a place for our children to learn and grow, and I want to make sure all parents can have access and options for that type of exceptional care for their child. As the first step in beginning to formulate working solutions, the select committee will tour Minnesota next month to hear from parents and providers about the challenges they face, as well as gather input and ideas.
It's an honor to have been selected to this committee, and I hope for more input from families and child care providers in our community to see how I can improve child care access and affordability in Woodbury and across the state.
MNsure Listening Session February 9th
On Tuesday, February 9th, I will be hosting a MNsure Listening Session with House Health and Human Services Finance Committee Chair Matt Dean in Woodbury.
I have been hearing from many people in our community who are frustrated with rising health care costs and a broken MNsure. That's why I am seeking public input on ways to improve Minnesota's health care exchange, and this meeting will give me the opportunity to hear directly from people in Woodbury about the problems they are facing, as well as ways we can improve access and affordability to health insurance.
