Rep. Kelly Fenton to Host MNsure Listening Session on February 9 in Woodbury

Thursday, January 21, 2016

WOODBURY, MN— Early next month, Representative Kelly Fenton (R-Woodbury) will be hosting a listening session in Woodbury, seeking public input on ways to improve Minnesota's health care exchange, MNsure. She will be joined by Representative Matt Dean (R-Dellwood), Chair of the House Health and Human Services Finance Committee.

In October, the Minnesota Department of Commerce released rate increases for 2016, with average health insurance premiums rising anywhere from 14.2 to 49 percent. The rate hikes put MNsure’s insurance rates among the highest in the nation—a far cry from the promises of two years ago when Minnesotans were told that the new health care exchange would deliver hundreds of dollars in savings for the average family.

"I have been hearing from my constituents in Woodbury about their frustrations over rising health care costs and a broken MNsure—it's just not working for Minnesotans," said Rep. Fenton. "I look forward to hosting this listening session in February so I can hear directly from people in our community about their thoughts on MNsure, as well as ways we can improve access and affordability to health insurance."
