Legislative update

Monday, November 23, 2015

Dear Neighbor,

On behalf of the Vogel family, I would like to wish you and yours a happy and safe Thanksgiving.

This is time to enjoy the company of friends and family, something I truly cherish. Four generations of Vogels will be getting together to celebrate and we are blessed for the opportunity to share in giving thanks.

As for news from the Capitol, talk of the Legislature meeting for a special session has been swirling recently but the governor has not yet made an announcement. Extending unemployment benefits for idled Iron Range workers seems to be the top issue driving this discussion, but other topics also appear under consideration. I will keep you posted if and when there are further developments.

For now, the next big thing on the radar appears to be the Dec. 3 issuance of our state's next biennial economic forecast. This will provide something of a road map as we prepare for the 2016 session, which is set to start March 8. I am a numbers guy at heart, so look for my perspective on the forecast after we receive it.

Until next time, have a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Sincerely,

Bob
