MNsure listening session on Wednesday

Tuesday, January 12, 2016

Dear Neighbor,

I want to remind area citizens that from 6 to 8 p.m. tomorrow (Wednesday, Jan. 13), I will be hosting a public listening session to receive input on the MNsure program, Minnesota's health insurance exchange. The session will be at the Aitkin Public Library Conference Center (110 First Ave. N.E., Aitkin, Minn.).

Joining me will be Rep. Greg Davids, R-Preston, co-chair of the MNsure Legislative Oversight Committee, and Rep. Matt Dean, R-Dellwood, chair of the Health and Human Services Finance Committee, to get a better understanding of how MNsure is working here in rural Minnesota.

The listening session is intended to gather input here in rural Minnesota from those dealing with health insurance through MNsure. That includes individual citizens, the self-employed, small-business owners, insurance agents, insurance navigators and others that are involved in meeting the health insurance requirements dictated by the federal Affordable Care Act (ACA).

Health insurance is a complicated subject. Since January 2014, purchasing health insurance is mandatory for most adults and their children under federal law as a result of the ACA. The ACA prompted the creation of MNsure. We need to ensure that Minnesota’s approach to meeting ACA requirements is working properly for our citizens.

Please join me to discuss this very important matter.

Regards,

Dale
