ST. PAUL – House Ways and Means Chairman Rep. Jim Knoblach, R-St. Cloud, issued the following statement regarding the release of the state's new economic forecast on Thursday, which calls for a $1.87 billion surplus through the fiscal years 2016-17.
"This additional revenue will allow us to further bolster our state reserves and address core priorities such as providing tax relief and increasing funding for roads and bridges without raising the gas tax," Knoblach said. "This report is further evidence Minnesotans are overtaxed and underscores the importance of enacting tax reductions the House passed earlier this year. I am eager to begin working on putting plans in place to assist families and businesses throughout the state."
