SAINT PAUL, MN—Rep. Pat Garofalo, R-Farmington, Chair of the Job Growth and Energy Affordability Committee, issued the following statement regarding today's announcement that Sen. Dave Thompson, R-Lakeville, will not seek re-election in 2016 and will retire from the Minnesota Senate at the end of his term.
“Sen. Thompson has been a great presence to have at the Capitol and he will be missed. He has been a strong voice for conservatism in the state of Minnesota. During his time in office he has consistently put principles over politics, and I feel fortunate to have had him as my state senator. A sincere thank you to Sen. Thompson for his service to our district. Good luck to him as he begins the next chapter, and Godspeed.”
