Poppe appointed to Agricultural Education Leadership Council

St. Paul, Minn. – Rep. Jeanne Poppe, DFL-Austin, was appointed to the Minnesota Agricultural Education Leadership Council (MAELC) Tuesday. She will serve as the ranking DFL House member.

The 17-member legislative council is comprised of individuals from public, private, and government entities and range from agri-business leaders to legislators and teachers.

“I was first appointed to MAELC in 2012 and it is an honor to continue to serve on this council,” said Poppe. “Agricultural education is absolutely vital to the health of Minnesota’s economy and its people.”

MAELC was founded in 1997 and works to foster new ideas and encourage people to enter or remain in agriculture education.

“Agriculture is the key to one in four jobs in Minnesota; from food systems to advanced processing sciences, this is a critical component of our way of life,” said Poppe. “The path to prosperity is wider with quality agricultural education.”

Rep. Jeanne Poppe can be reached at the Capitol by phone at 651-296-4193 or email at rep.jeanne.poppe@house.mn.
