Legislative Update - February 23rd, 2017

Thursday, March 23, 2017

Hello Northlanders,

Tuesday night, I had the pleasure to speak at a United Steel Workers event. Along with hearing a few updates from my labor brothers and sisters I gave a few tips on how to best engage with their elected officials.  Minnesota is a stronger state when the voice of workers is heard all across the state.

Yesterday morning I met with representatives from the Minnesota Association of Township about their priorities for Minnesota. I am enjoying my new role as an assistant leader and having a bigger platform to advocate for the Greater Minnesota communities.

I also presented a bill to the Veterans Affairs Division at the legislature that would improve residents of a veterans homes chances of winning a bear-hunting permit. For those of you who are not familiar, it sometimes takes years to be successfully selected for a bear-hunting permit, and some disabled veterans don’t have that much time. It’s one simple thing we can do for veterans who sacrificed so much for our country.

If you have any questions, input or other ideas for legislation please contact me. I always welcome your ideas.

Sincerely,

Rob Ecklund
State Representative
