Rep. Maye Quade Statement on Repealing Sunday Liquor Sale Prohibition

Monday, February 20, 2017

ST. PAUL—The Minnesota House of Representatives voted to repeal Minnesota’s prohibition on Sunday liquor sales by a vote of 85-45. Representative Erin Maye Quade (DFL-Apple Valley) released the following statement:

“Support for repealing the prohibition of Sunday liquor sales has been growing for quite some time and it is clear that many felt it was time for a change. In Apple Valley, our liquor stores are owned, operated and under the jurisdiction of the City of Apple Valley, a decision made by the city's voters. Recently, the City of Apple Valley voted on a resolution stating they are opposed to Sunday liquor sales. In order to honor the jurisdiction Apple Valley residents have given our city over our liquor stores, I voted no on Sunday liquor sales.”
