State Rep. Paul Rosenthal Introduces Bill to Fix 35W and 494 Interchange

Tuesday, February 7, 2017

ST. PAUL, MN - State Representative Paul Rosenthal (DFL – Edina) has introduced a bill to ease traffic congestion on Interstate Highway 35W and Interstate Highway 494. HF 236 would improve the highway interchange by adding a northbound and westbound ramp. In recent years, the I-35W and 494 interchange has been reported as one of the worst bottlenecks nationwide, according to the Federal Highway Administration.

“The 35W and 494 interchange has a statewide reputation as one of, if not the worst, metro traffic jams,” said Rep. Rosenthal. “This route is used by thousands of Minnesotans and all of our taxpayers deserve quality, well designed highway infrastructure, whether it be for traveling to work, running errands, or even to get to the airport. I’m committed to fixing this bottleneck for our community and state.”

The bill has been referred to the Transportation Finance Committee, of which Rep. Rosenthal is a member. HF 236 awaits a committee hearing.

Rep. Rosenthal encourages constituents to contact him with any questions, comments, or ideas on any legislative topic. Rep. Rosenthal can be reached by phone at 651-296-7803 or by email at rep.paul.rosenthal@house.mn.
