Premium Relief and Enrollment Extension
MNsure has announced an extension for its open enrollment period due to the legislation we passed last week. The new deadline is Wednesday, February 8th; this extension gives Minnesotans more time to purchase health insurance during open enrollment. The premium relief legislation will provide a 25% instant rebate to those purchasing health insurance on the individual market who don’t already qualify for MNsure tax credits.
It is open to all Minnesotans; however, they must purchase health insurance through MNsure or directly through Blue Plus or Health Partners. For more information, go to the MNsure web page.
Appointment to Minnesota Agricultural Education Leadership Council
I will be serving as the ranking DFL House member on the Minnesota Agricultural Education Leadership Council following my appointment by Minority Leader Melissa Hortman in January.
The MAELC is a 17-member legislative council dedicated to the improvement of agricultural education in Minnesota. The council is comprised of lawmakers, educators and agriculture industry leaders.
It’s an honor continuing to serve on this council. I have had the pleasure of serving on this board since 2012.
From food systems knowledge to advanced processing sciences, agriculture is the key to one in four jobs in Minnesota. Our state’s path to prosperity is wider with sufficient agricultural education.
Missing Money
Every day, there are Minnesotans who lose some form of financial property because of a change of address, death, or simply forgetting about an account. The State of Minnesota protects unclaimed monies until the rightful owner is found. Currently, Minnesota is holding around $500 million in unclaimed property.
Check to see if any of your unclaimed property is being held at the Minnesota Department of Commerce’s Missing Money page.
