RELEASE: Metsa statement on Gov. Dayton’s budget announcement

Tuesday, January 24, 2017

St. Paul – Today, Minnesota Gov. Mark Dayton announced his proposed budget for fiscal years 2018-2019. State Rep. Jason Metsa (DFL – Virginia) released the following statement:

“Since Gov. Dayton took office six years ago, we’ve seen the way of life for many Minnesotans significantly improve. I commend him for his long-standing commitment to working families, and his budget shows he is unwavering in this. By fighting for fair school funding, expanding economic development through tools such as the Minnesota Investment Fund and Job Creation Fund, and reforming health care to make it more affordable and accessible, the Governor has built a budget which can give Minnesotans and their families an opportunity to get ahead.

“I’m also thankful for his leadership in calling for a bold bonding bill this year, which will get work going on many infrastructure projects on the Range, and maybe more importantly, paychecks to the families of folks working on them.

“Although we have disagreed from time to time, Gov. Dayton has been there when we needed him most. He has helped make government work for local families who were struggling with layoffs, and many who have lost access to healthcare. I want to wish him all the best in his recovery, and my thoughts and prayers are with him and his family.”
