Ecklund Sworn in to Second Term Representing District 3A

Tuesday, January 3, 2017

ST. PAUL—Minnesota state legislators gathered at the Capitol today for the first day of the 2017 Legislative Session. The 90th session of the state legislature includes 23 new members of the Minnesota House of Representatives who were sworn into office at noon on Tuesday, along with their colleagues, including second-term Rep. Rob Ecklund (DFL—International Falls).

“It is an honor and privilege to work and serve on behalf of the people of Northern Minnesota,” said Rep. Ecklund. “There is a lot of work to do and a lot of unfinished business from the last two years. But I am ready to work with anyone who shares my commitment to put the needs of Minnesotans first.”

In late December, Speaker Kurt Daudt appointed Rep. Ecklund to four committees: Agriculture Finance, Capital Investment, Environment & Natural Resources Policy and Finance, and the Subcommittee on Mining, Forestry, & Tourism.

“I am very pleased with my committee assignments; they really do allow me to focus on many of the biggest issues facing Northern Minnesota.”

Rep. Ecklund was also selected by his peers to serve as House Assistant Minority Leader for the 2017-2018 session. As an assistant minority leader, Rep. Ecklund will aid Minority Leader Rep. Melissa Hortman (DFL-Brooklyn Park) and the leadership team in advocating for caucus priorities on the House Floor, in the media, and across Minnesota.
