Saint Paul, MINN. – Governor Mark Dayton and the Women’s Foundation of Minnesota announced the launch of the Young Women’s Initiative of Minnesota (YWI MN), a new effort aimed at improving opportunities for young women in Minnesota. YWI MN will bring together nonprofits, businesses, government, philanthropies, and young women to create a plan to build equity in outcomes for young women in our state allowing them to lead safe, prosperous lives. It is the first statewide initiative of its kind in the nation.
Representative Carlos Mariani (St. Paul) released the following statement:
“Minnesota will never reach its full potential with such large disparities among so many groups of women. Embracing this challenge is our moral duty and will make our community and state more vibrant. This public-private partnership will not only strengthen our neighborhoods, but help our businesses better reflect the communities they serve. This is a step forward on a long path and I thank Governor Dayton for his work to lift up all Minnesotans.”
