RELEASE: Rep. Poppe inducted to Houston High ‘Wall of Fame’

Friday, October 7, 2016

AUSTIN, MINN. – This past weekend, Rep. Jeanne Poppe (DFL – Austin) was recognized by her alma mater, Houston (Minnesota) High School, with an induction into the school’s Wall of Fame. The award was part of the school’s All School Reunion held in conjunction with Houston High’s homecoming week.

“This is such an honor to receive this recognition at such a special event,” Rep. Poppe said. “While we become separated from our high school experiences by both time and distance, I have strived to hold close the knowledge, wisdom and values I was able to gather from great teachers and classmates.”

Rep. Poppe’s award was in the Government section of the Wall of Fame, with other alumni receiving awards in the Community, Athletics, and Culture categories. She has been a member of the Minnesota House since 2005, and currently serves as the DFL-lead on the House Agriculture Finance Committee. Outside the Legislature, she’s a counselor at Riverland Community College.
