Statement: Rep. Erin Murphy on Special Session Progress and Need for Broader Discussion

Friday, July 15, 2016

SAINT PAUL, MN — Today, Governor Dayton and legislative leaders met to restart negotiations over a possible special session. Deputy Minority Leader, Rep. Erin Murphy (DFL-Saint Paul) released the following statement:

“I’m pleased to hear the positive remarks from Governor Dayton and legislative leaders on the need for a public works bonding bill. Making those investments will be critical for creating jobs and building state resources. As the negotiation proceeds, we must include our best ideas to address community policing and the crisis we’re having in communities of color. This is a part of our human infrastructure and it needs our attention. These issues must be a part of the agenda as we work to ensure our state is one of opportunity and promise for all of us."

Rep. Erin Murphy (DFL-Saint Paul) is the Deputy Minority Leader and the former Majority Leader in the Minnesota House.
