Legislative Update- April 21, 2016

Thursday, April 21, 2016

Dear Neighbors,

The third and final committee deadline for committees to act favorably on major appropriations and finance bills is set for this evening at midnight. Legislators are working to ensure that the prioritized bills fit within the parameters of the recently released budget targets.

My Bloomington House colleagues and I, along with Bloomington city staff, presented two bills to the Transportation Policy and Finance Committee on Monday.  HF 3413 provides bonding funds for the Mall of America transit station to improve efficiency and access of mass transit (bus and train) operations, and HF 3412 would allocate bonds for the reconstruction of a northbound to westbound ramp on the 35W and 494 interchange.  Both projects have bipartisan support and I am hopeful the House Majority will consider including them in the final bonding bill, which has been given a $600 million budget target.

As committees are wrapping up their work this week and next, most of our time will shift to the House floor for debate of final finance bills.

I welcome your input anytime.  Please feel free to contact me at 651-296-7803 or by email at rep.paul.rosenthal@house.mn.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Paul
