Legislative Update - October 27, 2015

Tuesday, October 27, 2015

Dear Neighbor,

I hope fall is treating you well and you have exciting Halloween plans. I would like to briefly update you on two events:

Job, Career and Resource Fair

On Thursday, October 29th, Progressive Baptist will be holding its Third Annual Community Job, Career and Resource Fair. Come meet with job recruiters, hiring managers, and other potential employers who are ready to fill vacancies from entry level jobs through higher skilled jobs.

What: Progressive Community Job, Career and Resource Fair

Where: Progressive Baptist Church (1505 Burns Ave.)

When: Thursday, October 29th from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Bonding Tour

Last week the House Committee on Capital Investment toured Saint Paul. We visited several sites that the city is requesting funding for, including Battle Creek, Bruce Vento Nature Sanctuary, and the Kellogg/3rd Street Bridge.

I’m hopeful that we’ll have a bonding bill this year to address the numerous projects that need funding across Minnesota. Now is the perfect time to take advantage of low interest rates for building projects that will create jobs, make us safer, and strengthen what our community has to offer.

(Legislators, Mayor Chris Coleman and Public Works Director Kathy Lantry)

As always, feel free to contact me with your thoughts and concerns.

Sincerely,

Sheldon Johnson
