SAINT PAUL, MINN. – Today, State Rep. Yvonne Selcer (DFL – Minnetonka) announced she will not seek re-election to the Minnesota House. She released the following statement:
“Today I announce that I will not seek reelection to the Minnesota House this fall. It has been an honor to serve the people of Minnetonka and Eden Prairie. While my term in the Minnesota House will end, my dedication to the people in my district and the state of Minnesota will continue. I thank my constituents, family, friends and colleagues for their support.”
“The best part of this job has been working on projects and legislation both large and small that helped improve Minnesotans’ lives. Paying back our schools, passing all-day kindergarten, expanding early childhood education, ensuring that no child goes hungry in a MN school because of an inability to pay, taking steps to assist in making college more affordable and assist graduates who are facing crushing debt, protecting our veterans and our senior citizens, and creating a solar energy standard in Minnesota to ensure a healthier environment for future generations are only several of the initiatives I have been honored to be a part of.”
“There is more to do, and for the rest of this session I look forward to working on behalf of my constituents. It is my hope that we can work together on strong capital investment and transportation bills, including SouthWest Light Rail, that make the necessary investments in Minnesota’s future. We also need to continue our efforts to close the achievement gap and expand opportunities for all Minnesota students.”
