Rep. Considine Statement on Dayton’s State of the State

Thursday, March 10, 2016

St. Paul, Minn. – Gov. Mark Dayton gave his 2016 State of the State address last night on the campus of the University of Minnesota. Rep. Jack Considine (DFL – Mankato) issued the following statement in response:

“Our strong economic situation gives us great potential to get things done for Minnesotans this session, and last evening Gov. Dayton laid out a sound agenda to make this happen. The Governor especially realizes the need to get something done in the area of transportation, and considering the condition of the roads and the many structurally deficient bridges in my district, I bet my constituents agree.

“Tuesday’s partisan rancor on the House floor – when we tried to do something as common sense as passing unemployment benefits for steelworkers, without strings attached – was unfortunate. I hope this isn’t an indication for the tone the rest of the session. If we can find a way to work together across the aisle, there’s no doubt in my mind even in a short session, we can deliver results.”
