Rep. Schoen Statement on Gov. Dayton’s State of the State Address

Wednesday, March 9, 2016

St. Paul, Minn. – Gov. Mark Dayton tonight delivered his 2016 State of the State address to legislators and invited guests gathered at the University of Minnesota. State Rep. Dan Schoen (DFL – St. Paul Park) issued the following statement in response:

“Minnesota’s economy is doing much better than it was just a couple of years ago, and a lot of this is due to Gov. Dayton’s terrific leadership. From tonight’s speech it’s clear he remains committed to keeping our fiscal situation strong, while making the key investments which matter so much to Minnesota families in areas like early childhood education, lower college tuition and debt relief, improvements to our transportation and transit systems and clean drinking water.

“After the unbelievable partisan game playing we witnessed on the House floor yesterday from the House Majority with their attempt to tack-on tax cuts for large corporations to unemployment benefits for steelworkers, Gov. Dayton’s address tonight was a much needed reminder of the things we should be focusing on as policymakers. Tonight I stand with him as we redouble our efforts to make our economy work for all Minnesotans in every corner of the state, from the Iron Range, to the western Minnesota prairie on which I grew up, to the suburban community I live in now, and all areas in between.”
