Lien joins House DFLers in introducing “Greater Minnesota for All” Agenda

Tuesday, January 19, 2016

St. Paul, Minn. – Rep. Ben Lien (DFL – Moorhead) joined other House DFLers from across the state today to unveil the “Greater Minnesota for All” agenda, which focuses on job creation, transportation, and property tax relief.

“This legislative package represents what we can do for greater Minnesota this year,” Lien said. “It shouldn’t matter where residents live in the state; we all deserve a high quality of life.”

The package calls for a $100 million investment in broadband expansion, property tax relief (both through increased local government aid and county program aid, as well as direct relief targeted to farmers and seniors), a comprehensive transportation bill, investments in education, with focuses on career and technical education and rural job training, funding for workforce housing, an oil train safety package and a respite care program making it easier for families to care for loved ones with dementia.

“There were many missed opportunities in 2015 for greater Minnesota,” Lien said. “I hope the Legislature can take advantage of the current budget surplus and create opportunities for all Minnesotans.”
