Legislative Update - December 17, 2015

Thursday, December 17, 2015

Dear Neighbors,

As we start to get the first real winter weather in our area, I want to wish you a safe and happy Holiday season and share a few things with you:

Health Care Financing Task Force Meeting

Tomorrow in Eagan, there will be a meeting of the Health Care Delivery Design and Sustainability Work Group, which provides recommendations to the full Health Care Financing Task Force. The meeting will go over their preliminary package of recommendations and provide an opportunity for public comment. The Minnesota Health Care Financing Task Force was created to advise the Governor and Legislature on strategies to increase access and improve the quality of health care for Minnesotans.

What: Heath Care Financing Task Force Meeting

Where: Eagan Community Center (1501 Central Parkway, Eagan)

When: Friday, December 18 from Noon to 2:00 p.m.

Open Appointments

Positions in state boards, councils and committees shape the direction of virtually every important issue in Minnesota. Each month the Secretary of State releases a list of new open appointments and vacant positions. As you can see in attached document, there are numerous new positions that need to be filled. Many yet to be filled appointments from previous months can be found here: http://www.sos.state.mn.us/index.aspx?page=308

This is an amazing opportunity for you to influence how state and local government will run. It's people like you, who have experience in so many areas, who are able to make government better through your participation. Please consider sharing your unique skills with your fellow Minnesotans.

Winter Dreams by Eagan Women of Note

Winter Dreams was the title of the program performed by The Eagan Women of Note last Sunday afternoon. It had a marvelous selection of songs: some were old favorites and some that I don’t recall hearing before. “The Seal Lullaby” and “Walking in the Air” were new to me and they are lovely. (You can search for “Walking in the Air” and find a version where the tune is used as background to an illustration of a little boy flying with a snowman to the North Pole.) “White Christmas” and “I’ll Be Home for Christmas” were also performed. Santa Claus was there, too.

I took my five-year old granddaughter and she said she liked all the songs. I definitely agree. The program was taped by Eagan Television, so you should be able to see it on local access channels. For more information and to hear a few of the songs performed, go to: www.eaganwomenofnote.org

As always, feel free to contact me with any thoughts or concerns you may have.

Sincerely,

Sandra Masin
