Apply for the Minnesota House High School Page Program

Wednesday, September 23, 2015

Dear Neighbor,

If you have a son or daughter who is a junior in high school with an interest in government, law or the legislative process, I would encourage your family to have your student consider applying for the Minnesota House of Representatives High School Page Program. The week-long program is open to all Minnesota high school students in their junior year whether they are in public school, private school, or are home schooled. It’s a unique opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of state government and the inner-workings of Minnesota's legislature.

Those in the program will assist members and staff during House floor sessions, participate in a mock committee hearing, and meet with legislators, constitutional officers, members of the judiciary, lobbyists, and media. It's also an opportunity to make valuable contacts that could be of assistance as they pursue a career in the future.

This program gives high school students first-hand experience to see and participate in the legislative process that isn’t always available in a classroom setting. Students will gain an invaluable perspective on how the legislature works on a day-to-day basis.

Applications must be received by close of business on December 4, 2015. Participants are responsible for personal costs associated with taking part in the page program, but will receive a small stipend to cover a portion of meals and, if applicable, cost of lodging.

More details and application information can be found on the House of Representatives website by visiting www.house.mn and clicking on "High School Page Program" under the “Educational Programs” section. You can also contact Andrew Olson, Assistant Sergeant at Arms at andrew.olson@house.mn for more information.

Sincerely,

Joyce
