Sifting through storm damage

Friday, July 17, 2015

Dear Neighbor,

A serious storm hit the Brainerd Lakes area on Sunday, but there are a couple of things you should know: The fish are still hungry and four-putts are still counted as three.

The bottom line places are still open for business. Don't hesitate to visit our area for recreation. There might be some isolated issues, but, in general, things are up and running.

This is one of those situations which led me to public service. It's not about partisan this or that, it's about doing what is right to help real people.

I, along with other local legislators, sent Gov. Mark Dayton a letter earlier this week, inviting him to come visit the damage. Thanks to the governor - and U.S. Rep. Rick Nolan - for making good on that offer by coming to our area today to get a first-hand look at the wreckage. This will help everyone understand the damage we have taken on as we determine what relief is appropriate.

You never know what Mother Nature is going to bring next, but it is good to see how local folks come together to work on recovery efforts. Thank you to all the volunteers who have come forward to help pick up debris and will continue working in recovery efforts.

I will provide more information regarding relief as it becomes available. Until then, please feel free to use me as a resource. Email me at rep.dale@house.mn or call (651) 296-2365.

Thanks,
Dale
