Rep. Anderson Renews Invitation to Auditor Otto, Asking Her to Testify before State Government Finance Committee Tomorrow

Monday, August 17, 2015

ST. PAUL, Minn.— Representative Sarah Anderson (R-Plymouth), Chair of the House State Government Finance Committee, announced an informational legislative hearing on Tuesday, August 18, 2015, regarding actions taken by the Office of the State Auditor (OSA) and a recent letter they sent to Minnesota counties.

Today, Representative Anderson renewed her invitation for Minnesota State Auditor Rebecca Otto to testify, sending the following letter:

Dear Auditor Otto,

I am following up on a letter I sent to you dated August 10, 2015, inviting you to testify before the House State Government Finance Committee on Tuesday, August 18, 2015, at 1:00 PM in room 200 of the State Office Building. Our agenda includes a discussion about recent three-year contracts the Office of the State Auditor sent to Minnesota counties. There have been a number of concerns raised by county officials and state leaders over these contracts, and in the interest of transparency, many would appreciate the chance to hear from you directly about this issue.

You previously shared your concerns that changes to Minn. Statute 6.481 "didn’t get properly heard" this session. While I disagree with that sentiment as the legislature held four public hearings on that bipartisan legislation as early as February, I want to assure you the opportunity to speak before the public at tomorrow's hearing and provide clarity to citizens, county officials and legislative leaders regarding this matter.

As I have not yet heard back from you or anyone in your office regarding Tuesday's informational hearing, I wanted to renew my invitation for you to testify before the State Government Finance Committee. I am hopeful you will be able to attend. We all share an interest in government accountability, and I appreciate the work you do on behalf of hardworking Minnesota taxpayers.

Please feel free to contact my office with any additional questions.

Sincerely,

Sarah Anderson

Chair, State Government Finance Committee
