Rep. Linda Slocum recognized for transportation advocacy

Thursday, September 3, 2015

ST. PAUL—Representative Linda Slocum (DFL-Richfield, Bloomington) was recognized by the I-494 Corridor Commission for her work to improve the I-494 corridor and the Highway 77 Underpass.

“It was an honor to receive this award,” said Rep. Slocum. “Transportation is the lifeblood of our communities. It is essential for commerce and, more importantly, to connect people. Every single person in Richfield and Bloomington knows that I-494 and I-35W was one of the worst bottlenecks in our state, and it is slowly improving. For our businesses and neighborhoods to succeed, we need a transportation system that will help us thrive, not hold us back. That is why it is so critical to continuously improve the I-494 corridor.”

“The I-494 Corridor Commission appreciates Representative Slocum’s dedicated service to the effort to reduce traffic congestion and more effectively and efficiently move people and goods along the I-494 corridor and surrounding area,” said Melissa Madison, Executive Director, I-494 Corridor Commission.

The I-494 Corridor Commission is a joint powers organization established in 1986 to address concerns about increasing traffic congestion along the I-494 Corridor. The commission works to encourage economic growth and regional prosperity through improved transportation options.
