Legislative Update July 21, 2015

Tuesday, July 21, 2015

Dear Neighbors,

I hope summer is treating you well.  I’ve been out visiting with you and your neighbors discussing what happened this legislative session and what you want me to focus on next session.

Emerald Ash Borer Volunteers Needed

The Minnesota Department of Agriculture and the University of Minnesota recently announced a new program for volunteers to help battle Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) in Minnesota.  The volunteers, dubbed Wasp Watchers, will help in the early detection of EAB.  Volunteers are needed to scout baseball fields for the smoky winged beetle bandit, a stingless ground dwelling wasp native to Minnesota.  The wasps nest in hard packed sand, so baseball fields are the ideal place to look for them.  Female wasps collect the EAB to feed their young, so they are often the easiest way to detect new EAB infestations.

You can find more information on joining the Wasp Watchers or on EAB by clicking the links.

Eagan Summer Community Theatre

I recently attended a production of Beauty and the Beast at Eagan High School.  It’s a fantastic performance that’s part of the Eagan Summer Community Theatre Program.

The performances will continue to run through August 1st, 2015 with both evening and matinee shows available.  Tickets for adults are $15, and tickets for children and seniors are $10.  You can find more information here: Eagan Summer Community Theatre.

As always, please feel free to contact me to share your thoughts.
