Dear neighbor,
Later today, legislative leaders have scheduled a joint House/Senate hearing on the main budget bills that need to be wrapped up ahead of special session.
As I write this, however, no final agreements have been reached. We still don't know exactly when the special session will be called by Governor Dayton. It could happen this weekend or it could happen at a later date.
I'm as frustrated as you are by the wait, and am concerned with the prospect of budget bills that covered different policy areas being rolled into one giant piece of legislation. Simply put, Agriculture Finance isn't Education Finance. The bills left the legislature separately, the governor vetoed them separately, and they should be fixed and voted on separately during the special session.
