Event will connect families with wallet-friendly adventures in Minnesota’s state and county parks
St. Paul – Rep. Carlos Mariani (DFL – Saint Paul) is joining Rick Hansen (DFL – South Saint Paul) to host a “Play in the Park” event at Garlough Elementary School to educate community members about wallet-friendly ways to enjoy Minnesota’s outdoors. The event will shows kids, youth, and families how they can try out camping, mountain biking, canoeing, fishing, and archery without the large up upfront costs. The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) created the “I Can” program, which provides gear and knowledgeable instructors to teach all Minnesotans how they can climb, camp, bike, fish, and paddle at the state and county parks system. The event will also feature a presentation by Dakota County Parks and the Minnesota DNR showing which activities are available at county and state parks.
