ST. PAUL— Today, Governor Mark Dayton released $842 million bonding proposal. Representative Clark Johnson (DFL- North Mankato) and Representative Jack Considine (DFL-Mankato) released the following statements:
“This is a wise and forward thinking economic decision to push for a bonding bill this year,” said Rep. Considine. “Minnesota has a $1.9 billion dollar surplus, interest rates are low, and the state has a deep backlog of projects which are key regional investments. These projects are only going to get more expensive to complete the longer we wait. The proposals help strengthen Greater Mankato and Minnesota as a whole. So far the GOP have said they want to wait until next year to do a bonding bill, but with such a large surplus I’m not sure why waiting helps Minnesota.”
