Last week, we learned Minnesota has a $329 million budget surplus. This shows our economy is still growing, and our tax relief bills – both at the state and federal level – are keeping the state budget strong while allowing Minnesotans to keep more of their paycheck. In our short session, they’ll be lots of discussions about the surplus. My top priority is to have our state conform with the new federal tax code in order to provide the intended relief, as well as making filing taxes as simple as possible for next year.
Rare Disease Council:
Last week, I joined other representatives and many guests, who, like me, are affected by a rare disease. I’ve lived with a rare heart condition since I was born, and see a need to create a council on rare disorders. The inspirational Minnesotans who came to the Capitol to share their stories had a big impact on me and other legislators from both sides of the aisle. If you’re interested, KSTP did a great story on the day.
Medical Supply Bill:
I recently spoke with the Minnesota Consortium for Citizens with Disabilities and Midwest Association for Medical Equipment Services about my bill, HF3252. This legislation helps the most vulnerable Minnesotans continue to access medical supplies from their preferred and reliable supplier.
Elk River Fire Department:
Congratulations to Spencer Specht and Matthew Wilson for taking the oath of office to become Elk River firefighters! We thank you for your commitment to keeping our residents safe, and wish you the best in your new career. Again, congrats!
