Saint Paul, Minnesota – Speaker Paul Thissen released the following statement following today’s announcement by the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) that Minnesota employers added 6,100 new jobs during the month of August. DEED also announced today that Minnesota’s unemployment rate has dropped to 4.3 percent, reaching its lowest level since 2006.
“Today’s jobs report is good news for Minnesota’s future. It shows that our economy continues to improve and it provides evidence we are well-positioned to continue making progress. Our challenge is to build on the momentum of Minnesota’s strong businesses and hard-working employees so that we can expand progress and prosperity to more Minnesotans.
We know there is more work to be done. And we are prepared to bring new, good ideas forward next year to provide greater economic security to Minnesota families in the future."
