REP. YARUSSO STATEMENT ON FEBRUARY BUDGET FORECAST
ST. PAUL, MN – The February budget forecast has been released and shows a projected budget deficit of $627 million for fiscal years 2014-15. The previous November budget forecast showed a projected deficit of $1.1 billion.
Rep. Barb Yarusso (DFL-Shoreview) released the following statement:
“It is encouraging to see that Minnesota’s economy is improving. The forecast has improved since November and this is due to recent job recovery in our state. After a decade of deep cuts and borrowing, we have a unique opportunity to move Minnesota into the future by structurally balancing the budget and investing in priorities to make our state thrive for years to come.
“We cannot continue to advance economically if we sacrifice our future. As we address the budget deficit, I will also be working on measures to improve education, invest in infrastructure and protect our environment. Now is the time to make these investments to move our state forward.”
