REP. SELCER DISCUSSES CHANGE IN BUSINESS TAX WITH GOVERNOR

REP. SELCER  DISCUSSES CHANGE IN BUSINESS TAX WITH GOVERNOR

St. Paul, Minnesota — Yesterday, Rep. Yvonne Selcer met with Governor Mark Dayton to discuss the state budget. Governor Dayton announced today that he is dropping business-to-business taxes from his budget proposals and some are saying that he may no longer pursue a sales tax expansion.

“I have been hearing many concerns on the business-to-business tax proposal and I told the Governor that I did not support this revenue source,” said Rep. Selcer.  “While we need to solve the budget deficit, we must strike a balance that businesses and consumers can agree on.”

“It is reassuring that Governor Dayton listened to my concerns and dropped the business tax proposal.  I expressed additional concerns over other budget proposals, and hope that we will see some of his sales tax proposals changed.  I look forward to working with the Governor on a final budget package that sets our state on stable financial footing into the future and boosts economic growth in our community.”

Rep. Selcer can be reached by phone at (651) 296-3964 or by email at rep.yvonne.selcer@house.mn.
