MELIN’S COUNTY FAIR BILL RECEIVES COMMITTEE APPROVAL
(ST. PAUL) – A bill authored by State Representative Carly Melin (DFL-Hibbing) exempting three St. Louis County fairgrounds from certain taxes received committee approval today. HF917 passed out of the Government Operations and Elections committee and awaits a hearing in the House Taxes committee.
“St. Louis County is the largest county in the state," explained Rep. Melin. “We are fortunate to have four county fairgrounds, whereas other Minnesota counties have one. However, only one of the fairgrounds enjoys the tax exemptions allowed other fairgrounds across the state. This bill will allow the other three the same tax classification, saving them money.”
