SPECIAL SESSION UPDATE
News From Representative Swedzinski
As the government shutdown comes to an end it’s not an ending that is ideal, but the cost to Minnesota has been great and this shutdown must end.
Now that the budget bills have been finalized, we are nearing the end of the government shutdown. Governor Dayton held a press conference earlier today asking lawmakers to return to the House and Senate chambers to hold a special session in order to balance the budget and officially put an end to the shutdown.
Many reforms included in the bills that are key to government reform and making Minnesota tax dollars go farther than before. Although this budget deal is not perfect, it does continue pushing Minnesota in the right direction.
Growing our economy and encouraging job creation does not begin with a tax increase, but can begin by keeping the tax burden low for Minnesotans and our businesses and by reforming the way government operates.
