Dear Friends,

Please make plans now to attend my "Day at the Capitol" on Saturday, March 26th. The event will start at 11:00 AM in room 500 South of the State Office Building. A light lunch will be provided, as well as a tour of my office and a free tour of the historic Capitol building. If you would like to attend, please RSVP to my Legislative Assistant, Mitzi Ellis, at Mitzi.Ellis@house.mn or call 651.296.9895. Free parking is available.

Yesterday afternoon, Minnesota House Republican Leadership unveiled our budget targets for the state. They laid out our roadmap for Minnesota’s economic recovery by balancing the budget without raising taxes, living within our means, and slowing the growth of spending. Some of the highlights are:

• No tax increases
• Reduces future spending by $3.6 billion
• Reduces projected spending by 13.1%
• Reduces state agency funding by 15%
• Freezes state government employee salaries for two years

Our budget targets set clear priorities by protecting K-12 education, nursing homes, courts, and veterans. Our budget targets also provide $300 million in tax relief to lower and middle income Minnesotans. Government services are improved through innovation and reform. By aligning government with the economic reality facing our state, our budget targets will create more efficient, less wasteful government services, while creating a strong economic future for Minnesota.

This week I met with firefighters, hotel general managers, restaurant managers and owners, carpenters, and arts advocacy groups from Burnsville to discuss their legislative priorities. It is important to me to listen to the comments and concerns of individuals in our community, therefore, I also welcome your calls and emails.

As always, thank you for following my legislative work.

Sincerely,

Pam
